About Us & What We Do
Proudly serving our community and the surrounding areas for over 50 years
The Wellsville Fire Company, York County Station 66, is located in Northern York County. We currently have approximately 15 active firefighters, and we run about 180 fire calls per year. Station 66 covers approximately forty-five square miles including three municipalities; Wellsville Borough, Warrington Township, and one third of Washington Township. These areas include 3,500 acres of state land ( Gifford Pinchot State Park), the state game lands, and a ski resort, Ski Roundtop.
We currently operate out of one station. The company runs one engine, a tanker, a rescue-pumper, and a brush truck. Wellsville is a rural company, and we do not have fire hydrants. However, throughout the years our members have put dry hydrants at ponds and streams, which makes getting water easier.
Our small rural fire department receives a tremendous amount of support from the community. Every year we hold our biggest fund-raiser, a three day carnival in August,as well as two "NASCAR( dinners and two shrimp feeds. We also allow our fire hall and auditorium to be rented (contact the fire hall for hall availability ). Our Ladies Auxiliary is a big asset to the fire company, as well as to the municipalities that they serve.
Although we do not have an ambulance, our brush truck runs medical assists for cardiac arrests in the borough of Wellsville and Warrington Township. There are five ambulance services that cover our area: Dillsburg EMS (Emergency Medical Services), Dover EMS, East Berlin EMS, Newberry Twp EMS, and West Shore EMS.
