|79th Annual Carnival Update|

Since 1941, the Wellsville Fire Company has hosted an annual picnic/carnival. This event has been our main source of fundraising for the past 78 years. It is with heavy hearts and in the best interest of our community, that we inform you our 2020 carnival with rides, music, and games, has been changed to a food only event.
Our trustees and committee members have worked hard over the past few months researching ways to still hold our annual event while adhering to the guidelines set forth by the PA Department of Health. With the everchanging guidance, we felt that the challenges to host this event would not be feasible for our volunteers and vendors. Our fire company looks forward to this annual event and we sincerely apologize for any disappointment. While we are saddened that our carnival will not be held in its traditional way, we are looking forward to preparing our "famous" carnival food to go. We will also have our annual carnival raffle. Our carnival makes up approximately 45-50% of our operating budget. We are grateful for the funding received from our municipalities, the commonwealth and the potential CARES grant. The financial hardship from this year's event change will be substantial to our volunteer organization. Our annual solicitation is another source of funding to assist with covering operating expenses. These letters should have or will be arriving in your mailbox. We kindly ask, if you are able, to consider making a donation in the amount comparable to what you would have normally spent at our carnival. The volunteers at the Wellsville Fire Company remain committed to "save lives and protect property" when you need us in your most vulnerable time.
